brave new world.
what else can explain the new uncharted, edgy territory that alber and lucas have entered into this season? it’s almost as if they’ve created what the survivors of a nuclear holocaust or an alien world domination would wear as they go out to discover habitable land and defeat any remaining mutant stragglers.
the draped sweaters were the stars of the show for me, so thoughtful, masterful, and exquisitely executed they were, that i had no choice BUT to contain myself for fear of a true breakdown!
at first i felt lost at the lack of color, but when it hit, the subtlety of it blew me away. the techno fabrics, the loose styling, the plain, white backdrop, all had me going gaga for this collection, it’s like they know my soul and my personal path of trying to be more ny/edgy in my style.
they were talking to me.
lastly, all i can say is…
boys with bags.
sold.

plexi.
through a chain of random thoughts, i remembered how badly i’ve been wanting one of the plexi lanvin necklaces, after a super glue incident reminding me of my ‘PARIS’ alex & chloe necklace…

11, 22, 35, 37,40.
… those are the looks from Burberry’s Fall 10/11 Menswear collection that are making me drool.
when i tell you i had a “fashion moment”… i hope you know what that means.
they are rare, and only happen once… MAYBE twice a season, generally only during womenswear… and only for lanvin.
but this… this was a personal fashion moment.
for clothes that i want so bad i could sell myself on larkin back in san francisco…
not kidding.

more black.
this week at my new job, we were required to wear all black for the launch of the spring +J line. (that’s right kids, i’m once again a retail ho; i’m now at the uniqlo store.) not owning a lot of black to begin with, i used my new discount on one of the already inexpensive (but surprisingly nice) cotton/cashmere sweaters.
i purchased the sweater 3 sizes too big, and my original intention was to put a pleat twist in the shoulder, to give it some interest, but after a couple of tries, i realized that while the shirt was slouchy enough in it’s width, it wasn’t long enough to give a nice silhouette. and the fact that it was already assembled, meant that the placement of the detail was always semi-awkward. so, upon the removal of the final attempts try, i accidently put a couple small holes in it while removing the seam. so i decided to go with it.
after 3 days and several hours of much hand work, i’m extremely pleased with the results, and can add another notch to my d.i.y. post.
my co-workers were smitten.
